The Hidden Currency Behind Peace of Mind

mindset & discipline May 07, 2025

According to Intuit's 2025 Prosperity Index, young people today prioritize

- peace of mind
- flexibility
- quality of life

Only 10% define success as wealth accumulation.

Ok... so mental health, well-being and freedom matter. That's an argument I can get behind.

But here's the thing.

Mental health, well-being, freedom, security, the ability to stop working for a boss who's a jerk, having options when life throws you a curveball, saying "no thank you" to a toxic relationship, being able to help your mom when she needs you, doing the right thing by a neighbor because they're in a bad spot... those things are rooted in something much older and less glamorous.

Financial security.

Wealth doesn't have to mean yachts or gold watches. It means being able to say yes or no on your terms.

Not living paycheck to paycheck.

Being able to help your mom.

Being able to afford therapy.

I am also 900 years old, so you'll have to forgive me if this sounds patronizing, but it's really easy to prioritize flexibility and peace of mind as a young person. But you know what you're going to want when you're a bit older?

Wealth.

Because wealth brings you flexibility and peace of mind.

Wealth is the foundation of well-being.

To expect quality of life without building wealth is like wanting to harvest fruit without ever planting a tree.

If you truly want to protect your flexibility, security and peace of mind, you must embrace wealth building.

Not for status.

But for sovereignty.
